Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association

Founded in Toronto on 1876 Jun 27 to provide health and life insurance. By 1892 there were 70 Camps and a membership of 6 0001. The Association closed in 20182. They were incorporated in Ontario in 1880 and in Canada in 1937.

Women were admitted in 1917, the Daughters of Scotland Benevolent Society was incorporated in 1906 and the name changed to just Daughters of Scotland on 1918 Apr 153.

The Association was governed by a Grand Camp and then divided into Districts. In 2014 the only Ontario District was Toronto No 7. The local unit was called a Camp.

The archives for 1895 to 1998 are at Simon Fraser University although it seems to be all British Columbia material4.
