Most of this information comes from four sources, all found at the SAHC: (1) “Dispos” (Disposition of Forces), (2) COL (Corps Officer Listing) a document existing for most Corps, (3) Corps histories, and (4) articles in the War Cry. The Dispos originally came out monthly, from 1926 SAHC has them approximately annually. Many Dispos are missing. It is sometimes difficult to reconcile these four sources; where they disagree their priority is as given above. Some information is from general histories of the Peterborough area and from newspaper clippings.

In the early days, the Salvation Army moved officers with surprising frequency. The lists below show the commanding officer – there frequently were several officers at a location. The dates in the Dispos and Corps Officer Listings are the date the officer arrived at a location, which is not necessarily the date of assuming command. The precise dates below are from these two sources. In some cases, due to missing Dispos, they may not be the date of assuming command but are an earlier arrival date.

The Dispos and COL list start date but not end date. Usually the commanding officer was there until the replacing officer took over, but that was not always the case. In later years, say from about 1950, changes were made in late June or early July.

The Peterborough area was in Barrie Division in 1885, Kingston Division 1886, and Peterborough Division from 1886 Dec to 1891 Aug when the area was split.
