In 1930, each parish was required to write and maintain a parish history although it seems not many did.

In 1826, there were 7 priests in Upper Canada, at Sandwich, Essex Co (1797);
St Raphael, Glengarry Co (1802); Kingston (1808); Richmond, Carleton Co (1819);
Perth (1820); York (Toronto) (1822); Malden, Essex Co.
This was the year mass was first celebrated in Peterborough.
1882 Jul 11 Diocese of Peterborough formed
1904 Diocese of Sault Ste Marie formed from part of Diocese of Peterborough

Because some very early records for Peterborough County are found there, the parishes of Cobourg-St Michael and Campbellford-St Mary are included here.
