Some information on early Anglican ministers can be found in Talman, J J - Some Notes on the Clergy of the Church of England in Upper Canada Prior to 1840 - Trans Royal Soc of Canada, 3rd Series, Section II, Vol 32 (1938)

Information on the location of records can be found in: Guide to the Holdings of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario - Generation Press (1990)

The data in the Anglican section comes from Yearbooks and from individual church histories.  By “Yearbook” is meant: from 1846 to 1868 the annual Report of The Church Society of the Diocese of Toronto (Reports prior to 1846 do not contain any useable data), from 1858 to 1980 the annual Journal of the Synod of the Diocese of Toronto (Journals prior to 1858 do not contain any useable data), from 1981 to 1992 the Anglican Yearbook, and from 1993 the Anglican Church Directory.  Information in the Synod Journals can be in two places: the List of Clergy and Lay Representatives and, often containing more detail, the Tabular Statement of Collections.  The Statement of Collections did not exist from 1885 to 1888.  OGSK has two files: Brief Histories of Anglican Churches in the Kawartha District and Anglican Church Histories.

The ministers listed in the Anglican sectin have been checked in a card index of clergy at AAT.  This has resulted in some additions, marked here as from “AAT Index”

Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG)
The SPG was established to encourage the establishment of Anglican churches and ministers outside England.  It had a long and active life, including activity in Upper Canada.  SPG information is from Digest of SPG Records, 5ed - SPG, London, England (1895).  SPG records are in London, England.  Microfilms of some SPG records are at AC and AAC.  The records are of interest because SPG missionaries wrote letters to the SPG describing their activities.
Here is a list of ministers who worked in the Peterborough area and had SPG support, although both may not have occurred at the same time.  The list shows where and when the minister received SPG support.  Note that manyof these parishes / communities are not in Peterborough County.
