Formed in the US on 1873 Jun 30 as an offshoot of the Ancient Order of United Workmen and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Although very popular for a time, it faded, disbanding in 1916.
A female auxiliary called the Degree of Protection was created in 1875 but disbanded in 1877. In 1881 an organization called the Knights and Ladies of Honor1 was created.
The local group was called a lodge.
