Band of Hope

Back to Societies index

Founded in England in 1847 as a temperance organization particularly aimed at children. It was very popular in England but modern disinterest in temperance eventually caused the society to change to HopeUK, working with young people to reduce the use of drugs, including alcohol and tobacco.

Ontario Bands of Hope are known in Ottawa, Dunnville, Newmarket, and Windsor (1891).
